FAQ
Common questions about the AI Visibility Check and how it works.
Is the AI Visibility Check really free?
Yes. There's no signup, no credit card, no paywall. Run as many checks as you want. We rate-limit per IP to prevent abuse but normal use is unlimited.
What data sources do you check?
Common Crawl's CDX index (last 6 monthly captures), your robots.txt (parsed for CCBot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot rules), and your homepage HTML (parsed for schema.org and Open Graph markup).
Why does my domain score so low?
Most low scores come down to two things: AI bots blocked in robots.txt, and missing schema.org markup. Both are usually fixable in under an hour.
How often should I re-check?
Quarterly is sensible. Common Crawl publishes monthly indices, so visibility can shift between checks even if you make no changes.
Do you store my domain or check history?
Results are cached for 24 hours per domain to reduce load on Common Crawl. After that the cache expires. We don't link checks to individual users.
Can I block specific AI bots without hurting visibility for others?
Yes - you can allow CCBot and Common-Crawl-fed models (which is most LLMs) while blocking, say, PerplexityBot. The trade-off is yours.
Does Google AI Overviews use my content?
Google AI Overviews uses Google's own search index, which is broader than Common Crawl. Allowing Google-Extended in robots.txt is the relevant signal.
My site is private/internal. Can I still benefit from this?
Probably not. AI visibility is fundamentally about public web content. Private sites should focus on internal RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) systems instead.
